What is the Fortified Grant Program?
North Carolina Insurance Underwriting Association (NCIUA) offers grants to eligible policyholders in beach communities to help better protect their homes against hurricanes, high winds, and severe storms through the installation of an IBHS FORTIFIED ROOF. Roof Doctor is a trusted contractor for the Fortified Roof Program and works closely with NCIUA as well as the homeowner to ensure a smooth and effortless process for the homeowner.

- An evaluator from IBHS, will be assigned to your home, and they’ll work directly with us, your local roofers, to ensure that all roofing materials and construction processes are up to the Fortified standards.
- When your roof is complete, all documentation of the FORTIFIED roofing work will be sent to the IBHS.
- The funds will be released to you, the homeowner.

What makes a Fortified Roof different?
- FORTIFIED requires specific materials and installation methods, including a wider drip edge and a fully adhered starter strip, that when used together create a stronger system.
- FORTIFIED requires ring-shank nails, installed in an enhanced pattern, to help keep the roof deck attached to your home in high winds.
- FORTIFIED requires roof decks to be sealed to prevent water damage.
